Kay
passed away at home on March 14th, 2008 after a long struggle with lung cancer.
She was born to William and Muriel Gulley in Torrington, WY on September 16,
1937. They moved to Kennewick in 1942 and later moved to Richland. She graduated
from Columbia High School in 1955. She married Allan C. Severance on July 1,
1955 while stationed at Camp Hanford. They raised three wonderful children,
Debbie, Julie and Scott.
She worked for 10 years as a bookkeeper at
Northwest Rural Opportunities (NRO) in Pasco and Grandview. She is presently a
homemaker.
She enjoyed working in her gardens, her arts and crafts and
traveling in her motor home. One of her greatest joys was spending time with and
spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband and life long
friend, MSG Allan C. Severance (Ret); children Debbie (Dwayne) Carnes, Julie
(Don) Cox and Scott (Teresa) Severance; 9 grandchildren Travis Strege, Shelly
Strege, Kristi Strege, Justin Carnes, Kerri Carnes, Grant Carnes, Tara Carnes,
Stephanie Severance, Michael Severance; and two great grandchildren Kenny and
Cash. She is survived by her sister Barbara (Lowell) Engebretson;
brothers-in-law George (Jo) Buchanan and Robert (Barbara) Severance; and many
cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind life long best friend
Dorothy Hout.
She was preceded in death by her father William Gulley;
mother Muriel Gulley Young; stepfather F.B. Young; and sister Connie
Buchanan.
Private inurnment will be in the family plot at Desert Lawn
Memorial Park in Kennewick, WA. A celebration of her life will be held at a
later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tri-Cities
Cancer Center or Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice.
