Chuck passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday morning. He was born October 22, 1937 in Big Timber, MT; passed away in Tacoma, WA, October 31, 2004, at the age of 67. He will be remembered as one of the "The Big 3" during PLU's basketball heyday in the late '50s. His scoring and rebounding records still stand at PLU. He was a competitive golfer who was always looking forward to his next tournament. He was known as one of the top amateur golfers in the area and has won several club championships at both Canterwood and Brookdale Golf courses. Most importantly, he was the best husband to his wife, Toni; the best father to his children, Connie (Doug), Charmaine (Dennis), and Chris (Corina), and the best "Papa" to his grandsons Zachary, Colby, Hunter, Sage, Dakota, Tristan, Kyle and Kollyn that his family could have asked for. He was the brother of Barbara (Don) Meares of Richland, WA, Keith Curtis of Granite Falls, WA., and Leslie Curtis of Richland. He will be lovingly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at Rainier View Christian Church Saturday, November 6, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to PLU - Lute Club - Chuck Curtis Memorial Fund Jim VanBeek, PLU, Tacoma, WA 98447. Published in the News Tribune (Tacoma) on 11/3/2004.
